Jody Butler

Jody has been teaching at Musicology since 2005 when she retired from Carrollton City Schools.  Jody earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of West Georgia and her doctorate from Auburn University.

She taught public school for 26 years, primarily in the area of gifted education.  Jody is the author of five books for readers of all ages, focusing on the history and environment of the Georgia coast.  Her sixth book, about her ancestors’ Scottish castle, is currently with the illustrator.

Jody began playing piano in 1965 and guitar in 1968, which definitely makes her a lifelong musician.  At Musicology, Jody teaches guitar, ukulele, piano, and mountain dulcimer.  She specializes in fingerstyle guitar, playing both Celtic and Hawaiian slack key styles.

Jody loves working with students, both young and old, and believes everyone can enjoy making music, regardless of age.
